Today is Sophie Matthews’s sixteenth birthday party—an ultra-exclusive, black-tie event in the heart of Texas Hill Country where the secrets run deeper than the local roots. Sophie’s dad went total multi-millionaire mode and spared zero expense: his fully renovated, cliffside mansion (which was literally abandoned for years and rumored to be haunted) is now ground zero for the event of the season.
Then, right before Sophie can blow out the candles on her over-the-top, three-tiered red velvet cake... plot twist. A literal body plummets from the balcony straight onto the starlit dance floor below, ruining the entire aesthetic.
