SUPERFAN

Freshman year at UT Austin is giving total imposter syndrome, and Minnie is feeling super adrift—until she stumbles into the rabbit hole of a K-pop-style boy band called HOURglass and their feral internet fanbase. She becomes instantly hyperfixated on Halo, the group's brooding resident bad boy whose dark aesthetic just hits different. After a brief real-life romance goes completely down in flames, Minnie pivots hard into full fan-girl era: streaming every single live, living in the forum threads, and trauma-bonding with stans online. But when a massive scandal drops and threatens to ruin Halo, Minnie decides it’s her main-character duty to step in and save him.

The plot twist? Halo’s actual lore is way darker than anything the internet sleuths could ever dig up. Before he became an international heartthrob, he was just Eason—a high school dropout haunted by a tragic accident. Joining HOURglass was supposed to be his ultimate identity reset, and performing on stage is the only time he can temporarily numb the trauma. That is, until one of his own fans starts crossing major boundaries, threatening to burn his whole curated life to the ground.

Dazzling, intense, and deeply relatable, Superfan is a total deep-dive into the chaos of stan culture, the toxic magic of online parasocial relationships, and the absolute extremes we’ll go to just to avoid feeling lonely.
